Thursday Sept. 19: Welcome to Germany! After you check-in to the hotel, we'll have a brief orientation and then start the festivities with a trip to the world-famous Hofbräuhaus. Raise your glass and toast the beginning of what may be the best weekend of your life!
Friday Sept. 20: Spend today at your leisure, perhaps by renting a bicycle and exploring the Bavarian capital on two wheels, or joining a tour to learn more about Munich's dark past when Hitler's Third Reich tried to take over the world. Or leave the hustle and bustle of the city and take a day-trip by Luxury Coach to the gorgeous Bavarian Alps for a tour of King Ludwig II's fairy-tale castle, Neuschwanstein.
Saturday Sept. 21: Watch the Grand Entry Parade of Oktoberfest Proprietors and Landlords as they make their way to the Oktoberfest grounds (Theresienwiese). Or choose to line up extra early (like 7am) at the Schottenhamel tent to catch a glimpse of the Mayor tapping the ceremonial first keg of Oktoberfest Beer. When you hear the cannon blast at noon, "O'zapft is!" That means "it's tapped" and Oktoberfest has officially begun!
Sunday Sept. 22: Today's Costume and Riflemen's Parade is truly a spectacle to behold. Delight in the colorful regional costumes dating back hundreds of years; you may even catch a glimpse of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. Follow the parade to the Oktoberfest to enjoy the carnival rides and vaudeville attractions.
Monday Sept. 23: Feel like getting away from Munich and the Oktoberfest craziness for awhile? Why not take a day-trip by train to the wonderfully romantic city of Salzburg, Austria, where the hills are alive with the sound of music? Salzburg is not only a famous movie set, it’s also a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the birthplace of Mozart. Perhaps an excursion is not your thing? There is more than enough fun to be had back in Munich at the Oktoberfest.
Tuesday Sept. 24: It’s time to say Auf Wiedersehen to Munich as you head for home or move on to another fascinating destination.

This trip exceeded our expectations in every way. Everything was perfectly planned, and it was an ideal balance of optional "group activities" and free time. The selection of hotels was very well considered, taking into account both comfort and location.
Not having any prior experience traveling to these areas of Europe, we can't imagine having done this trip any other way. The added bonus was meeting a group of really great people that I won't be surprised if we meet up with again on a future trip.
Well done, Michael...! You... rock!
Spyglass Tours is really the only way to plan and experience Oktoberfest in Munich! This was my second consecutive year to book through Spyglass and Mike and Ivy have taken what is very difficult to do on your own and made it simple, cost effective and basically worry free! I highly recommend Spyglass Tours if you are considering the real Oktoberfest experience and I hope to see you there every year! Prost!"
Spyglass Tours makes Oktoberfest easy! They did all the work and we had all the fun! It was so nice to have everything organized for us so that we could enjoy the week at our leisure. The subway pass for a week made getting around easy and we didn't have think about how to go about getting one. The hotel was clean and nice and very centrally located. We enjoyed meeting and spending time with rest of the tour group, and at the same time having the freedom to come and go as we pleased. It was a great experience and something that we can mark off our "Bucket List"!! Thank you so much for making it such a wonderful experience!!"
